Poster Exploring Motivation in Participatory Culture

In the Fall of 2007, the Masters of Graphic Design class hosted a graduate symposium, option shift control, exploring the issues of collaboration and co-creation in design. Graduate students, faculty and professionals from around the country attended the two day symposium. In addition to playing an organizing role in the symposium, I facilitated a panel on motivation along with three peers, Rebecca Tegtmeyer, Alberto Rigau and Matt Munoz. We were exploring what motivates people to participate in participatory culture. My poster raised the question “What if motivation was a desire to be famous?” and was created to be a springboard for the panel discussion. My peers each designed posters raising other questions regarding motivation. After the symposium we created a booklet to document the panel and reflect on the dialogue that took place.
